Pile dwelling museum

The Pfahlbaumuseum Unteruhldingen is an open-air museum that presents archaeological finds and reconstructions of lake villages from the Stone and Bronze Ages. It is the tourist sightseeing in the town of Unteruhldingen with over 270,000 visitors annually dar. The first piles were reconstructed from the year 1922, which were designed on the basis of excavations in the bog near Bad Schussenried and on Federsee. More info at http://www.pfahlbauten.de/


Zeppelin Museum

The Zeppelin Museum Friedrichshafen is unique in Germany: It houses the largest collection of airships. It also deals as the only German house with combining of technology and art. In July 1996 it was reopened in Harbour Station. Since then, more than 3.5 million visitors have seen the collections and exhibitions. The Council of Constance

The Council of Constance took on 5 November 1414 until 22 April 1418 and was convened at the instigation of King Sigismund of Pope John XXIII. On 11 November 1417, the council elected a new pope, who called himself Martin V. The election was held in the council building. At the conclave in the first floor of the building council of 8 to 11 November 1417 was attended by 56 cardinals and ambassadors.

During the Council of Constance, for four years in the center of the church-political interest in Europe. Kaiser, Pope and church leaders attended with their respective entourage in Constance and the surrounding areas stay. There were 33 cardinals, 346 Patriarchs, Archbishops and Bishops, 2148 secular doctors and 546 head and members of religious orders, all with horses and their many followers, so that the city was bursting at the seams. The estimated visitor 50000-70000 council procured the city not only a major economic and cultural development, but took them during four years, to the breaking point.

A small plaque recalls in Konstanz today on the southern market place at the council. The statue of "Imperia" in 1993, situated in the harbor. The figure of a rich courtesan, reminiscent of the secular needs of the ecclesiastical princes. To satisfy them open women were in women's shelters and other women who had rented houses, and were in the stables or anywhere else space were found, about 700 have been there without the secret.

In 2014 the city celebrates the 600th anniversary of the Council of Constance with a Grand National Exhibition, to include Pope Benedict XVI. was invited.
